Kentucky native Carly Pearce will perform the National Anthem before the 149th Kentucky Derby next weekend.
Pearce, who has had four country number-one hits, will sing after 4:00 (Central) Saturday afternoon, May 6. The performance will be broadcast live as part of NBC’s Kentucky Derby coverage.
Pearce, who hails from Taylor Mill, started singing publicly at 11. She would get a job at Dollywood at 16, working with the ‘Country Crossroads’ show. Pearce moved to Nashville about three years later to pursue a country music career.
On Friday, May 5, singer and songwriter Rachel Platten will kick off Derby weekend by performing the National Anthem and her hit “Fight Song” during the Kentucky Oaks Survivour’s Parade.
