Joan Sparks Sholar, 90, of Louisville, Kentucky, and formerly of Hopkinsville, Kentucky died on April 25, 2023, at The Willows at Springhurst in Louisville.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Monday, May 1, 2023, at Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home with Rev. Steven Sholar officiating. Burial will follow in Kentucky Veteran’s Cemetery West. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour on Monday at the funeral home. Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
A native of Wilmington, Delaware she was born on June 4, 1932, the daughter of the late William Edgar Sparks and Marian Elizabeth Letty Sparks. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Donald Euel Sholar.
She was a marketing manager with South Central Bell and was a member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include her sons: Donald Euel Sholar, Jr. of Hopkinsville, and David Drew (Linda) Sholar of Waukesha, Wisc.; her daughters, Lisa Sholar (Terry) Boyer of Crestwood and Launa Lynn Hanson of Goshen. Four grandchildren, Chris Hanson, Jason Hanson, Samantha Sholar Lamb, and Lauren Boyer, and one great-grandchild, Kara Hanson.
