Margaret Barnett and Pam Hale, Joint Celebration of Life

A joint celebration of life for Margaret Barnett and her daughter Pam Hale will be held Saturday, May 20th from 1:00 – 4:00 pm at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home in Hopkinsville, KY. Hale’s arrangements are being handled by King’s Funeral Home in Cadiz.

Margaret grew up in a loving household with 11 children in Nortonville, KY, from which she had no shortage of entertaining stories. Margaret married Bill Barnett in 1947 and set about chasing 5 boisterous children whose births spread over 15 years. Those 4 plus decades raising children in Hopkinsville, Kentucky on their farm and later in the city were the backdrop of lots of excitement, love, laughter, and more than a few challenges. She saw her family through it all and they were grateful and honored to dedicate themselves to her health and happiness. Margaret left her beloved Hopkinsville in 2019 to live with her daughters and continue an action-packed life buzzing with the next generation of children.

If you didn’t meet Margaret through her decades of parent life in Hopkinsville, you met her through her very first job after being a stay-at-home mom in car sales at Williams Chevrolet, or maybe her many years at what is now Fortera Credit Union, or through First Baptist Church, or her various friend and card groups. If you were lucky enough to have known Margaret, you are smiling right now because that is the power she had on folks. We all will cherish the impact she had on our lives and will honor her joyous spirit.

Sadly, Margaret’s first-born daughter Pam passed away just weeks after her. Our family is heartbroken but honored to share this celebration of life for these two extraordinary women. Margaret is survived by Lincoln Barnett, Jr., of LaQuinta, CA; Leslie Kaufman (Jay) of Roswell, GA; Cindy Whitaker (John) of Hoover, AL; and Ashley Petyak of Woodstock, GA; in addition to numerous grand and great-grandchildren, loving nieces, nephews, and many more family and friends.

Pam Hale was born in Hopkinsville, KY on May 18, 1948, to Lincoln William “Bill” Barnett and Margaret Leslie Prowse Barnett.

She passed away Friday, April 7, 2023, at Alive Hospice in Nashville, TN.

Pam was a Loving Wife, Mother, Mimi, and Sister and the oldest of five children. Pam served in the Hopkinsville Jr. Auxiliary for six years with a particular interest in the Salvation Army and Girl Guard Program. She was a member Emerita status in the Shakespeare Club of Hopkinsville which was one of her greatest honors and joys. She served one year on the board of directors at the Sanctuary House. Over the years she has worked at Wallace Lawson Insurance, Toms & Calhoun, and Century 21. She acquired beautician, insurance, and real estate licenses. Very close to her heart were her memberships serving as Sunday School Teacher for many years at Herndon United Methodist and Canton Baptist Churches. For the last few years, she was a member of the Edgewood Baptist Church in Hopkinsville. Her first love was always being a mom to Amy and Christy, being a homemaker and then her daily joy in life was being a grandmother to Blake, Abby, and Dylan and of course, being a wife and helpmate for 56 years to her husband David.
