Over 150 tickets were sold to the Hopkinsville Salvation Army Cinco de Mayo taco dinner that will help children attend The Salvation Army’s regional Camp Paradise Valley in Burksville.

In addition to tacos and all the trimmings, supporters also purchased several silent auction items to help raise money to pay to send children to camp.

Dan Duncan, The Salvation Army’s Christian Education Director for the states of Kentucky and Tennessee was a special guest speaker, sharing about the benefits of attending Camp Paradise Valley. Roy Cavender, formally of Missionary Radio, and friends shared their musical gifts with those in attendance which included a special performance by the lovely ladies of Grace and Mercy.

The Salvation Army thanks its event sponsors: Hampton Premium Meats, United Southern Bank, and Clean Air Technology Solutions (CATS), its auction sponsors: WKDZ/WHVO and Herb Haye’s Furniture, and its door prize sponsors: Humes Jewelers, Baldwin’s Appliance and Mattress, WKDZ/WHVO, Planet Fitness, The Woodshed BBQ and Restaurant, Panera Bread, Whistle Stop Donuts, and Gracious Me! for their support. Thanks to the Taco Dinner event and a generous grant from the Rotary of Hopkinsville, KY, The Salvation Army was able to raise all of the funds necessary to send local children from Christian, Todd and Trigg counties to camp this summer.

Camp Paradise Valley has been in operation for 50 years, and has offered a Christ-centered, adventurous camp experience to thousands of children throughout Kentucky and Tennessee. Each Summer, the camp hosts 200 campers weekly while complying with rigorous camping and child safety standards.
