Man Charged With Assaulting Another Man With A Gun

A Hopkinsville man was charged after he allegedly struck a man with a shotgun during an altercation on Tanglewood Drive in Hopkinsville Monday morning.

Hopkinsville Police say 41-year-old Nicholas O’Neil pointed a shotgun at a man and then hit him in the head twice with the buttstock when he attempted to leave but fell down.

He then reportedly hit the man’s truck window three times shattering the window.

O’Neil was located by the Christian County Sheriff’s Office on Dogwood Kelly Road and he was arrested on charges of first-degree wanton endangerment, second-degree assault, and second-degree criminal mischief.

The altercation took place at a home that was badly damaged in a fire last week. The cause of the fire has not been determined.
