Governor Andy Beshear’s official portrait was unveiled at the Kentucky State Capitol Thursday.
Governor Beshear’s office said it was painted by Louisville artist Melanie Harding Bates, and it will eventually be transferred to the Kentucky Hall of Governors.
Bates has been a commissioned portrait artist for over 30 years and works in three different mediums. She was honored to paint the portrait of Gov. Beshear, a dream of hers since childhood. Bates resides in Louisville with her husband and is a member of several artists’ organizations.
