Details Released In High-Speed Pursuit With Shots Fired

A pursuit that started in McLean County ended in a wreck on East 7th Street in Hopkinsville Wednesday morning.

Hopkinsville Police say they got into a pursuit with 31-year-old Cody Pacomio Gene Alire of Indiana that shot at law enforcement in Muhlenberg, McLean, and Christian Counties.

 Alire was arrested after hitting a utility pole on East 7th Street. An ambulance was called to check him out before he was taken to jail.

Police say he got up to speeds of over 100 mph while fleeing from them.

During the pursuit, he reportedly ran a vehicle off the roadway before his car was spiked by Hopkinsville Police Cpt. Ceasar Sierra.

Police say one person was injured when the suspect ran their vehicle off the road at 6848 Greenville Road.

McLean County Sheriff’s deputies say they attempted to stop Alire on probation violation warrants out of Evansville, Indiana, and the man fled and fired shots at their deputies before crossing into Muhlenberg County.

He had allegedly made statements about shooting law enforcement if they attempted to stop him.

He is charged with several traffic violations, 15 counts of first-degree wanton endangerment, 2 counts of attempted murder (police officer), 2 counts of first-degree assault, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, theft by unlawful taking (firearm), theft by unlawful taking (auto),  2 counts of first-degree fleeing and evading, and 2 counts of fugitive from another state in reference to parole violation warrants in Indiana.
