The 7th Annual Summer Salute in Hopkinsville will have a familiar, friendly, fan-favorite back in the fold for music entertainment — as officials from Hopkinsville Parks & Recreation announced Thursday that the Jimmy Church Band will be opening for “The Commodores” August 26.
A 10-piece entertainment group will perform classic Motown as well as a mix of selections from other genres, including pop and rock ‘n roll.
A Summer Salute veteran, the band will make its annual pilgrimage from Nashville to party with folks he’s been entertaining for 50 years.
Retiring Superintendent Tab Brockman said, “a Summer Salute without Jimmy Church is like a day without sunshine.”
As the largest annual festival in Hopkinsville, Summer Salute tries to include entertainment for every age. This year’s expanded festival footprint involves two nights of national headliners, a collaboration with the Top Gun Car Show Cruise-In for both days, and other regular festival offerings.
Festival sponsorship packages are still available for interested businesses and individuals. Each package comes with logo placement and VIP seating for both headline concert events. For more info on sponsorships call the Parks and Recreation Department office at (270) 887-4290.
