Some area principals are among the 45 who graduated this month from the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce Foundation’s Leadership Institute for School Principals program.
The course is a year-long executive-level leadership training course that is usually reserved for the nation’s top CEOs. The event offers public and private-school principals in Kentucky an opportunity to receive what they call powerful individual leadership training, provided by the Truist Leadership Institute. The training is customized to meet the specific leadership development needs of school administrators.
Local principals among the recent graduates include Malissa Thomas, Principal of Caldwell County Elementary School, and Aaron McClung, the new Food Service and Federal Programs Director for Caldwell County Public Schools and high school football coach.
Additionally, Sara Sweeney Johnson, Principal of Indian Hills Elementary School in Christian County, and Jennifer Oyler, Principal of South Todd Elementary School, were among the class.
Throughout eleven years of the program, over $3.6 million has been invested to train over 500 elementary, middle, and high school principals, impacting over 105 counties and 274,000 students in Kentucky.
The Leadership Institute is provided at no cost to principals. The $17,500 in training is provided to the participants through an in-kind donation of $12,000 per principal from the Truist Leadership Institute. The remaining $5,500 is provided through donations from members of the state’s business community.
