Marshall County High School junior Karlie Holmen was crowned Miss Western Kentucky State Fair Saturday night at the convention center.
The 16-year-old daughter of Dustin and Rechelle Holmen of Gilbertsville received the crown and sash from 2022 Queen Caitlyn Hooks of Lyon County.
She said a simple question from her mother prompted her to enter the pageant.
click to download audioHolmen, who was competing in just her second pageant, was sponsored by Jaded Layne Boutique. She said the comradery of the contestants backstage helped her throughout the evening.
The first runner-up was Katelyn Rodgers, the 16-year-old daughter of Jason and Karen Rogers. She is a junior at Madisonville-North Hopkins High School.
The second runner-up was Alarryia Jones, a 2023 graduate of Madisonville-North Hopkins High School and the daughter of Danielle Jennings and L.J. Jones of Manitou. Jones was the first runner-up in last year’s pageant.
Rounding out the top six were Claire Lacy and Emma-Kay White of Hopkinsville and Hilary Curneal of Madisonville.
Carmon Todd was voted Miss Congeniality by her fellow contestants.
The Miss Western Kentucky State Fair pageant is an open pageant that allows anyone living in Kentucky who meets to requirements to enter.
