A Cadiz man died after being struck by a vehicle on the side of Western Kentucky Parkway in Leitchfield Thursday.
Kentucky State Police Post 4 reported the accident occurred near the 99 mile-marker westbound where 68-year-old Herbert Wharton was standing outside of his vehicle that was parked in the emergency lane.
A van pulling a trailer being driven by 43-year-old Gary Park, of St. Louis, Missouri, struck Wharton and his vehicle.
Wharton was transported to Owensboro Health Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center in Leitchfield, where he was pronounced deceased by the Grayson County Coroner’s Office. Park was not injured.
KSP was called to investigate the fatal accident around 3:45 Thursday afternoon.
