A Hopkinsville man was charged with assault and wanton endangerment after an incident on Stanley Street in Hopkinsville Monday night.
Hopkinsville Police say 60-year-old Talmadge Smith struck his wife in the face causing injuries to her eye and face then fired a 22 caliber rifle in the direction of her while she was laying on her bed.
When police attempted to arrest him he reportedly would not follow instructions and had to be tased.
He was arrested and charged with first-degree wanton endangerment, fourth-degree assault, and resisting arrest.
