Complaint Leads To Drug Trafficking Charges

A Hopkinsville man and woman were charged with trafficking drugs after a report of suspicious individuals at Hucks on East 9th Street Saturday afternoon.

Hopkinsville Police say they located 58-year-old Ricky Holmes and 44-year-old Ruth Cooper next to a vehicle that was running with Holmes making a hand-to-hand transaction with someone else. Through the window, officers could reportedly see a meth pipe, drug paraphernalia, and an open can of beer.

During the investigation, 17 grams of meth were reportedly found in the wheel well as the vehicle was being towed by a tow truck.

Police say after a search of their motel room on Fort Campbell Boulevard, 4 crack pipes, 4 scales, two glass bongs, 27 grams of crack cocaine, a gram of meth, 21 hydrocodone pills, synthetic drugs, and 5 cell phones were found.

Holmes was arrested and charged with possession of an open alcoholic beverage container in a motor vehicle, driving on a DUI-suspended license, tampering with physical evidence, possession of meth, trafficking meth, possession of synthetic drugs, trafficking cocaine, and first-degree trafficking a controlled substance (drug unspecified).

Cooper was also arrested and charged with public intoxication, tampering with physical evidence, possession of meth, trafficking meth, possession of synthetic drugs, trafficking cocaine, and first-degree trafficking a controlled substance (drug unspecified).
