Anna Jean Farmer, age 88, of Hopkinsville, KY, passed away on Friday, July 28, 2023, at her home of natural causes. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Thursday, August 3, 2023, at Maddux Fuqua Hinton Funeral Home with Steve McVay and Reed Shepard officiating. Burial will be at Rosedale Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be at Maddux Fuqua Hinton Funeral Home Thursday, August 3, 2023, from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM. Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home has been entrusted by the family to handle the arrangements.
Mrs. Farmer was born on February 3, 1935, in Allegre, KY, the daughter of the late Ozie and Ruby Long Hightower. She was a nurse at the Pembroke Clinic for 20 years and enjoyed shopping, quilting, the fall season, the mountains, her family, and her churches, Pembroke Church of Christ and formerly of the Saratoga United Methodist Church and traveling. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Leon Farmer; her second husband, John (Bill) Augustus; her son, Joseph Farmer; her daughter, Teresa Farmer; her brother Earl Hightower; her sisters, Lillian Francis, Clarice Rager and Geraldine Spurlin; and her grandson Leon Thomas Farmer.
Survivors include her daughter, Sherry Newcomb of Hopkinsville; four grandchildren, Hanson Moseley and his wife Danielle, Ashley Farmer, Jessica Newcomb; three great-grandchildren, Leslie Russell, Alex Russell, Leia Russell; and her best friend and close family member, Kenneth Kendall.
