As Christian County continues to see exponential growth, making sure each community is on the right page is becoming more critical.
During Tuesday morning’s Christian County Chamber of Commerce’s State of the Community Panel Discussion, three local officials shared some of their visions for continued growth.
Among the topics brought up during the conversation, Christian County Judge-Executive Jerry Gilliam mentioned the projects on area highways to better serve the region.
Gilliam added that partnerships with groups like the Christian County Chamber of Commerce ensure that the area moves in the right direction.
Additionally, Oak Grove Mayor Jackie Oliver said there are some plans in the early stages to begin expanding her city.
Hopkinsville Mayor J.R. Knight said one thing he would like to see during his tenure is the revitalization of the downtown district.
The panel discussion was led by Hopkinsville Electric System & EnergyNet’s Cody Noffsinger. Along with HES; the breakfast was sponsored by HWEA, the City of Hopkinsville, the City of Oak Grove, and the Christian County government.
Other topics discussed included the need for more housing, the new Christian County High School, and the impact that Ft. Campbell has on the region. Over the last 18 months, the county has learned of at least $1.8 billion in capital investments slated for the near future.
