Damaging winds and flooding caused some damage across Christian County Tuesday night.
Chris Noles, Science and Operations Officer at the National Weather Service in Paducah told Your News Edge the damage was caused by winds up to 80 MPH. Tree damage on Gary Lane and Hillwood Circle, about four miles southwest of Hopkinsville, was observed by Noles.
He added after looking back-and-fourth at various radar scans and the damage, it was determined to just be strong winds, not a tornado, like other area media outlets are reporting.
Additional damage occurred around 6:30, when a home on Wade Road, about 6 miles southeast of Crofton, had a basement wall collapse due to flash flooding.
A severe thunderstorm or tornado warning was not issued by the NWS for Christian County, but a Flash Flood Warning was in effect around the time the flooding occurred.
