The Christian County Animal Shelter, which houses animals from Christian, Trigg, and Todd counties, is at full capacity and in need of adoptions and sponsorships, according to director Melissa Goff.
According to a Facebook post made by the shelter on Aug. 25, the intake level had gone from around 300 animals a month to around 500, and the shelter is struggling to keep up.
Goff says the shelter cannot refuse any animals and is close to exceeding its capacity.
She adds the community has been stepping up to help the shelter, which has in turn helped the animals, and she appreciates the community’s help more than they will ever know. Still, there are more animals that need homes and Goff asks people to consider adopting, sponsoring, or donating.
The shelter is located at 2935 Russellville Road in Hopkinsville. Monetary donations can be dropped off at the shelter or mailed to 216 West 7th St., Suite A, Hopkinsville, KY, 42240.
