An Indiana man who led police on a multi-county police pursuit in which he was charged with firing shots at them was sentenced to 14 years in prison Monday morning.
Judge Andrew Self handed down the sentence after receiving a guilty plea from 31-year-old Cody Alire. McLean County Sheriff’s deputies attempted to stop Alire on May 24 when they determined he was wanted in Evansville. Police said Alire fired shots at deputies in McLean County, drove into Muhlenberg County, and then Christian County where he was arrested after striking a utility pole on East 7th Street in Hopkinsville.
Police said one person was injured when Alire ran their vehicle off the road on Greenville Road.
Monday morning, Alire pled guilty to amended charges that included three counts of attempted murder of a police officer, first-degree attempted assault, 15 counts of attempted wanton endangerment, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and receiving stolen property.
Alire has already entered a plea to charges in McLean and Muhlenberg counties.
