Funeral services for 69-year-old Kathryn “Kate” Hayes, of Cadiz, will be 2 PM Sunday at Goodwin Funeral Home.
Burial will follow at 10 AM Monday, October 9, in Hopkinsville’s Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West.
Visitation will be from noon until the funeral hour.
Survivors include:
Husband of 37 years, Guy Hayes, of Cadiz;
Four daughters, Jennifer (D.M.) Martin, of Cadiz, Lisa (Jim) Carlson, of Fort Mill, South Carolina, Keri (Mike) Morcomb, of Brownton, Minnesota, Lorna (Zach) Jansheski, of Columbus, Ohio;
Three sisters, Linda (Larry) Hightower, of Cadiz, Diana Roper, of Cadiz, and Nora Smith, of Lake City, Colorado;
And 11 grandchildren.
She died Monday, October 2, 2023, at Baptist Health Deaconess Hospital in Madisonville.
Born June 12, 1954, in Durango, Colorado, she was the daughter of the late Daniel Roper and Sonya Chambers Roper.
She was the co-owner of the former Cadiz Quick Mart, and had also worked as manager of Minit Mart in Cadiz.
The wife of a career Army man, she lived in many different places with her family and was afforded the opportunity to travel to countries such as Denmark, Holland, and Germany, where she served as mayor of Höchst.
While residing in California, she was also elected as mayor of Fort Ord. She was a devoted wife and mother, an exceptional seamstress, and enjoyed crafting and camping with her family.
