On average, gas prices in western Kentucky have dropped about a quarter a gallon over the past month according to the weekly gas price report from AAA.
The average in western Kentucky Tuesday was $3.12 a gallon, which is down a dime from last week and down 28 cents from the same week last year. In late September, gas prices were $3.38 a gallon.
According to the Gas Buddy app, gas prices in Trigg County were $3.47 at the interstate, $3.19 in Cadiz, $3.25 in Rockcastle, and $3.59 at the lake.
In Christian County, gas prices ranged from $3.04 to $3.29 in Hopkinsville, was $3.39 in Crofton, and $3.13 in Oak Grove.
Across the state, prices were $2.99 in Owensboro, $3.13 in Paducah, $3.20 in Bowling Green, and $3.31 in Louisville.
Gas prices have maintained their daily decline despite the uncertainty in the oil market in the days since Hamas terrorists attacked Israel. Oil prices have risen a few dollars per barrel this week, but that is far from the roughly $40 per barrel temporary spike following last year’s Russian invasion of Ukraine.
According to new data from the Energy Information Administration, tepid demand, alongside descending oil prices, has pushed pump prices lower.
