Christian County Public Schools has announced Thursday the retirement of Pembroke Elementary School Principal Dana Gary.
Gary, who announced the news to her staff earlier this week, will step away from a 27-year career with the school district on December 31. She has served in her current role since 2015.
Gary began her career as a teacher at Millbrooke Elementary in 1996 and stayed there for ten years. She then spent seven years at South Christian Elementary as a teacher and later a curriculum specialist. Before being named principal at Pembroke Elementary, she served as an instructional behavior coach with the district serving Holiday Elementary and Hopkinsville Middle schools.
The school’s Site-Based Decision-Making Council will begin the process of selecting a new principal to allow for a smooth transition into the new role – the council would like to name a new principal by early December.
