Christian County’s grand jury returned a handful of serious true bills Friday afternoon, bringing forth formal charges on several acting criminals.
For 21-year-old Chynna Berlack, a true bill asserted charges of first-degree complicity to robbery, complicity to kidnapping an adult, first-degree wanton endangerment and second-degree complicity to assault.
On, or about, October 24, and according to Hopkinsville Police, Berlack served as an accomplice to Zyair Clack, and lured a man to help her move something in her home. Clack assaulted the unnamed individual with punches to the head and robbed him — before forcing the victim to drive to another location in search of more money.
The wanton endangerment charge is new, and stems from Berlack engaging in conduct that created “substantial risk of death or serious injury to a minor child,” which under circumstances manifested extreme indifference to the value of human life.
Bail was set at $50,000 full cash.
A true bill was returned for 28-year-old Daquan Butler, with charges of minor injury fourth-degree assault and second-degree strangulation.
On, or about, September 24, Butler physically grabbed his girlfriend, pulled her hair, threw her to the ground and struck her in the face — causing physical injury and/or pain.
He also, according to the grand jury, wantonly applied pressure to her throat and neck, impeding breathing and circulation.
According to the Christian County Sheriff’s Department, Butler left Clara Drive that evening naked in a car before deputies arrived on scene. An EPO has been filed.
A true bill was returned for 53-year-old Jesse Dossett Jr., affirming charges of second-degree assault domestic violence and first-or-second offense alcohol intoxication.
On, or about, September 1, Dossett intentionally and wantonly caused physical injury by means of a dangerous instrument while intoxicated.
Hopkinsville Police arrived at a disturbance on North Main Street, and discovered Dossett on his front porch — having injured his disabled son.
Broken glass was reportedly discovered in the living room and his son had severe lacerations to his head and elbow.
A true bill was also returned for 26-year-old Oak Grove man Qadree Reed for first-degree wanton endangerment.
On, or about, July 11, he allegedly wantonly operated a motor vehicle and created a substantial risk of injury toward an individual.
