Significant storm damage was reported in southern portions of Todd County Saturday afternoon after what weather spotters reported as a strong tornado on the ground.
Trenton Fire Chief John Stahl told Your WEKT News Edge the worst of the damage came from the Guthrie, Trenton, and Allensville areas. Some Amish properties reported extensive damage. Damage was scattered along Highway 181, U.S. 79, and U.S. 41. Officials ask people to stay away from the damaged areas.
The storm rumbled into Todd County after leaving extensive damage in the Clarksville and Montgomery County area.
The National Weather Service in Paducah announced they would be surveying the storm damage Sunday to determine the strength of the tornado.
Todd County Emergency Manager Daniel Smith said a shelter has been set up and food is available at the Allensville Fire Department.
