Christian County Fiscal Court Closes Up Shop On 2024

Located in Hopkinsville, the Trilogy Center for Women provides long-term drug rehabilitation and substance abuse care and treatment — and annually, it receives critical support from the Christian County Fiscal Court and pass-through funding.

The financial withdrawal of such funding came due at the end of November, and during Tuesday morning’s meeting, Pennyrile Area Development District’s Associate Director of Community & Economic Development Amy Frogue noted there are five categories in which Departments of Local Government can assign community development block grants:

Public services, economic development, housing, community projects and infrastructure.

Trilogy Center, of course, is a public service.

Squires unanimously approved the financial distribution.

In other court news:

— Melissa Goff, director for the Christian County Regional Animal Shelter, said November was another busy month for the organization: 386 incoming animals, 113 adoptions, 18 rescues and 33 reclaims. Of the 223 outgoing animals, 120 were dogs, 38 were puppies, 33 were cats and 33 were kittens.

More than $4,400 was given in designated donations, and Goff added the shelter is going through “an astronomical amount” of dog food.

Judge-Executive Jerry Gilliam added that canine crunches must be addressed in 2024 and beyond.

— Squires also unanimously entered into a bid acceptance with CBF Contracting in Hopkinsville, for the creation of new workstations at the Christian County Judicial Center.

— County Clerk Melinda Humphries said her office is, like all other municipalities, in the middle of the large automotive changeover taking place statewide.

Citizens, she said, need to remain proactive during the holiday season.

— The Human Rights Commission office will be closed through January 2.

— And on Wednesday, January 17, the fiscal court will enter into a special retreat and called meeting, were from 9 AM until 2 PM they will convene in the Alhambra Theatre for a breakfast and thorough discussion of the 2024 budget.
