A man was charged after he assaulted and kidnapped a woman on Peach Street in Christian County Tuesday night.
Christian County Sheriff’s deputies say they were called for a disturbance on Peach Street and attempted to stop 22-year-old Thomas Welch who had assaulted a woman then put her in his car and drove away.
When deputies attempted to stop him, he reportedly fled and they used a precision immobilization technique to stop him at the intersection of Greenville Road and East 1st Street.
He was arrested and charged with first-degree criminal mischief, kidnapping, resisting arrest, second-degree unlawful imprisonment, and first-degree fleeing or evading police.
