A Colorado man was arrested in the Trigg County Schools drop-off Wednesday morning after a school resource officer noticed the smell of marijuana coming from a vehicle.
Cadiz Police Chief Tyler Thomas says a child that was being dropped off in the car pickup line was in a vehicle that had an odor of marijuana. When the SROs who were helping out with drop off smelled the odor, they made contact with the adults in the vehicle and pulled them aside to conduct an investigation.
The investigation led to the arrest of 51-year-old Paul Allen Hardie of Colorado Springs, Colorado, who was visiting family who live in Trigg County. Thomas said during the search of the vehicle, police found two unloaded and secured firearms in the trunk.
Hardie is charged with possession of marijuana (firearm enhanced) and license to be in possession.
