Authorities have released more information about an SUV that was hit by a train on Skyline Drive in Hopkinsville injuring four people Tuesday afternoon.
Hopkinsville Police say an SUV driven by 66-year-old Jeff Davenport was attempting to cross the railroad tracks heading towards East 9th Street when it was struck by a train.
Davenport and three juvenile occupants of the vehicle 8-year-old Kayden Johnson, 6-year-old Alayna Johnson, and 2-year-old Kai Johnson were treated and transported by Hopkinsville EMS to Jennie Stuart Health for injuries with Davenport going to the helipad to meet with a helicopter to transfer him to Skyline Medical Center in Nashville.
Police say the lights and arms were working at the railroad crossing when law enforcement arrived and city cameras showed Davenport driving around the crossing gates.
Two of the children were reportedly not in booster seats at the time of the crash. Police say criminal charges are pending.
