City of Hopkinsville officials announced Friday the hiring of Amanda Brunt as the community’s new public information officer.

She will work with all city departments, agencies, directors, superintendents and the Hopkinsville City Council.

And she began the position this past Tuesday, January 16.

Brunt takes the job following a stint with HCA’s TriStar Division of Hospitals, where she served as the marketing director for TriStar NorthCrest Medical Center in Springfield, Tennessee, and TriStar Greenview Regional Hospital in Bowling Green.

Prior to that, she served as the public information officer and marketing director for the Christian County Health Department, and was the face of the organization during a critical time in the pandemic — offering updates through daily media briefings.

As such, she’s served the Hopkinsville area for more than 15 years in some capacity, and bring a wealth of communication experience to the role.

Mayor J.R. Knight noted that Brunt will serve as an integral part of building effective internal and external communication strategies, and he’s confident the experience and expertise she brings to the table will ensure success in the role — while providing prioritized, clear and transparent communication to the community.

In this position, Brunt will produce printed and video material about Hopkinsville, be responsible for organization special events like news conferences and awards ceremonies, and she will work on sharpening department clarity, promoting positive public image and offering crisis management. She will also focus on consistent use of the city’s social media platforms.

Brunt said she’s excited to have the opportunity to, once again, work alongside fellow Hopkinsville colleagues, while sharing the city’s story.

This is a newly created position that was funded by the Hopkinsville City Council in the FY 2023-24 budget. City Administrator Troy Body said the position was requested, in order to amplify efforts in sharing information to the public, city staff and council.

Body said the City of Hopkinsville has to “do a better job” reaching people through every format, and Brunt immediately adds value to those efforts.
