While the cold snap is in the rear-view mirror, slightly higher gas prices are up ahead.
According to the AAA East Central Gas Price Report, west central Kentucky’s costs are up four cents per gallon this week — up to $2.79.
In Caldwell County, it’s between $2.62 and $2.99 in Princeton.
In Christian County, it’s between $2.52 and $2.65 in Hopkinsville, and it’s $2.69 in Oak Grove.
In Lyon County, it’s $2.75 in Eddyville and $2.77 in Kuttawa.
In Todd County, it’s $2.64 in Elkton.
And in Trigg County, it’s between $2.69 and $2.99 in Cadiz.

In Calloway County, it’s $2.62 in Murray.
In Crittenden County, it’s $2.75 in Marion.
In Hopkins County, it’s $2.49 in Hanson, it’s $2.54 in Nortonville, and it’s between $2.59 and $2.64 in Madisonville.
In Livingston County, it’s $2.79 in Ledbetter, and it’s $2.83 in Grand Rivers.
And in Marshall County, it’s between $2.66 and $2.74 in Benton, and it’s $2.69 in Calvert City.
Last week, it was $2.75 a gallon around here. This time last year, it was $3.13.
For the major hubs of Kentucky, it’s $2.63 in Owensboro, $2.71 in Paducah, $2.72 in Elizabethtown, $2.94 in Louisville and $2.95 in Bowling Green.
The national average for a gallon of gas has increased a penny over the past week to $3.07. A likely culprit: wintry weather, which hampers refining operations and gasoline distribution, causing frigid regions to see price jumps.
The national average is five cents less than a month ago and 34 cents less than a year ago.
At the close of last Wednesday’s formal trading session, West Texas Intermediate increased by 16 cents to settle at $72.56 per barrel.
