Charged with the October 2021 Cadiz murder of his aunt, Mary Dullenty, Harold Jett, of Taylorsville, Illinois, was back in Trigg County Circuit Court Wednesday morning — still in line for a jury trial this September.
His defenders, Amie Martinez and Rick Lawniczak, have moved for a bill of particulars, with a response already filed by Commonwealth’s Attorney Carrie Ovey-Wiggins.
However, Lawniczak told Judge Jamus Redd that several details have already been made clear.
Specifically, a bill of particulars is an intricate written statement of all charges and/or claims from a plaintiff or prosecutor, and it’s typically given to the defense upon formal request. It offers more detailed information about a case, is usually itemized point by point, and in certain situations, it clarifies explicit details on claims.
It’s also used in civil and criminal action.
Jett’s mental state at the time of the crime is becoming a focal point of both the Commonwealth and defense.
According to law enforcement and court officials, Dullenty’s autopsy revealed her cause of death to be blunt force trauma. Kentucky State Police was notified of an assault on Hilltop Street that October 14, 2021 afternoon. Jett allegedly fired a shot at a vehicle on the South Road, was given chase by authorities to Dullenty’s home, and she later died from injuries at Trigg County Hospital.
He remains lodged in the Christian County Jail. His next pre-trial conference: April 10.
