Shoplifting Suspect Arrested After Hopkinsville Foot Pursuit

A Hopkinsville man was charged after he reportedly fled from law enforcement during a shoplifting investigation on East 9th Street Tuesday afternoon.

Hopkinsville Police say 39-year-old Terrell Hopkins attempted to conceal $47 worth of items at the Dollar General and fled on foot when he was questioned by law enforcement. He ran into a ditch and he was tased by the officer. Hopkins then allegedly attempted to get the taser away from the officer while continuing to resist arrest.

During the investigation, he reportedly gave officers someone else’s name instead of his own.

Hopkins was arrested and charged with first-degree fleeing or evading police, resisting arrest, giving officers false identifying information, and theft by unlawful taking.
