The City of Hopkinsville is applying for an Urban Development Action Grant to help the Ambulance Board out following an unexpected string of issues. Tuesday night, City Council voted to apply for the $500,000 loan.
Ward 4 Councilman, Chuck Crabtree asked Mayor JR Knight to expand on the need for the loan.
In other business, Community Development Services Director, Tom Britton presented the need of a B-2 zoning designation at Canton and Pyle Lane.
He also presented an R-2 zoning for a subdivision on Pyle Lane.
Both zoning requests were sent to the City Clerk to be drafted into ordinances.
Meanwhile, Mayor Knight invited the public to the renaming of East 21st Street on Thursday at 1 pm. The road will be named to honor Bill Flynn, who's company once spanned both sides of the road and still exists at the corner of 21st and Walnut Street today. Ward 10 Councilman Steve Keel invited everyone to the Dog Park Saturday at 11 for a community event with the Police Department, who will be doing a K-9 demonstration.
