An Oak Grove man and a Woodlawn, Tennessee woman were arrested Thursday in Alabama after taking a vehicle in Elkton Wednesday.
Elkton Police say they were called to Water Street after 34-year-old Hugo Vazquez and 23-year-old Makayla Magnes took the keys to someone else’s vehicle after they invited them into their home for food.
They reportedly claimed they had no food and their vehicle had broken down.
Police say the couple took the person’s vehicle and fled the area leaving their broken down vehicle.
They were reportedly stopped by law enforcement Thursday in Tuscaloosa, Alabama and charged with receiving stolen property in Alabama.
Police say they are pursuing charges of theft by unlawful taking and theft of a motor vehicle registration plate in Kentucky.
