A Logan County couple was charged with trafficking drugs after a traffic stop on West 7th Street in Hopkinsville Tuesday afternoon.
Hopkinsville Police say they stopped a truck driven by 45-year-old Eric Covington due to his windshield being obstructed and during the stop, he was shaking and breathing heavily.
Eric Covington’s passenger 46-year-old Tonya Covington was getting out of the vehicle for a law enforcement K9 to check the truck and she reportedly concealed a bag of suspected meth inside her pants.
Police say after a search of the vehicle, more suspected meth, pills, marijuana, a scale, and other drug paraphernalia were found.
They were both arrested and charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance (drug unspecified), possession of marijuana, and trafficking meth. Tonya Covington was also charged with tampering with physical evidence.
