Since 2010, student and adult volunteers have stepped up to help those in need in Cadiz and Trigg County for one week each summer during Camp Cadiz.
Andrea Hampton serves as one of the organizers and told Your News Edge they have several volunteers helping this year.
Hampton added they have plenty of work to check off the to-do list.
While Camp Cadiz helps show the student volunteers the importance of serving your community, other valuable life lessons are taught, Hampton said that God is present in everything they do.
The experience is always eye-opening for everyone involved.
The group of volunteers stay at Liberty Point Baptist Church in Cadiz. Hampton said the church has always been open to them staying there.
Each year, new and longtime residents alike learn of the existence of Camp Cadiz. Hampton said that area churches and organizations are very supportive of the efforts, but added they are always seeking additional donations.
If you have time to volunteer next week and haven’t signed up to do so, visit Liberty Point Baptist Church each weekday, through Thursday, by 8:00 AM and Hampton said they will put you to work.
