The seventh class of YourSportsEdge.com Fan Faves was honored at an informal reception held Wednesday at the D.J. Everett III Radio Room in Cadiz.
This year’s ballot, sponsored by Jennie Stuart Orthopedics, saw nearly 10,000 votes cast. By comparison, only six Kentucky counties saw more votes cast in the May primary election.
This year’s ballot was one of the largest, with 23 categories featuring athletes from nine primary schools covered by YSE.com.
The 2024 spreadsheet shows xx people — Hopkinsville’s Kaydon Coats, Trigg County’s Emma Dowell, Aiden Lewis of Christian County, Caldwell County’s Avery Wells, and Anna Crawford of Lyon County — winning back-to-back Fan Fave voting.
Christian County’s Rylee Owens and Trigg County’s Avery Ethridge won the Fan Fave voting for a third straight year.
Here is how the voting finished in each category.
FOOTBALL – Trigg County’s Tay’Shaun Linton is the fifth Wildcat in seven years to win the Fan Fave vote and the first lineman. Other Trigg players to win are Jacob Wease (2023), Jaquellus Martin (2021), Cam Jordan (2019), and Tyson Bush (2018).
Prince Northington II of Christian County is the second straight Colonel to earn runner-up honors. It’s the fourth time a Colonel has finished second in the voting.
CROSS COUNTRY – A Trigg County runner was the Fan Fave winner for the third time in the past four years. Brody Renfroe joined Austin Cavanaugh (2021 and 2022) as Wildcat winners. In the three years before 2021, the cross country category was a boys/girls combined category.
Cadyn Travis was voted runner-up and became the first Heritage Christian Academy runner to finish in the top two in Fan Fave voting.
GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY – Hopkinsville’s Kaydon Coats is the first girls’ runner to win back-to-back Fan Fave voting and is the third straight Lady Tiger – joining Allison Wood in 2022.
Fort Campbell’s Emmie Underwood, the Class 1A state champion, was runner-up, becoming the first Lady Falcon runner to finish in the top two.
BOYS GOLF – Drew Fincham continued Christian County’s run at the top of the fan fave voting, following back-to-back wins by Landon Hunt in 2022 and 2023.
Trigg County’s Haydon Reynolds continued the family’s trophy haul in the category with a runner-up finish. Older brother Hunter was runner-up three times and the 2020 winner.
GIRLS GOLF – Trigg County’s Emma Dowell is the first girls’ golfer to win back-to-back Fan Fave titles and the third Trigg golfer to win (Alex Ethridge – 2018).
University Heights Academy’s Conlee Lindsey was the runner-up, adding to her 2022 runner-up finish.
VOLLEYBALL – Christian County’s Rylee Owens capped a three-peat as the winner, becoming the sixth athlete to win three straight.
Her teammate Skylar Kirby was runner-up, marking the first time a school has swept the volleyball category.
BOYS SOCCER – Clayton Lester became the second straight University Heights Academy Blazer to win the Fan Fave voting (Preston Thomas – 2023).
Christian Lopez was the runner-up, marking the first time a Christian County soccer player has finished in the top two in the category.
GIRLS SOCCER – Alayah Lander is the first Christian County Lady Colonel soccer player to win the Fan Fave voting.
Grace Cansler was runner-up, joining Abby Moss in 2021 as Lady Tigers to finish second in the voting. Ana Hernandez won in 2019.
BOYS BASKETBALL – Hopkinsville’s Antonio Williams is the first Tiger to win the Fan Fave voting and the first to finish in the top two.
Lyon County Mr. Basketball Travis Perry was runner-up for the second time, adding to his award in 2020.
GIRLS BASKETBALL – Christian County’s Anaysia Bagwell was looking to become the first athlete to win a fourth straight Fan Fave. However, she finished second this year to her teammate, Lazarie Daniel. Both will have a chance to win next year.
It’s the first time one school has swept the Fan Fave voting for girls’ basketball.
BOYS WRESTLING – This year marked the first time the wrestling category was split by gender. Cofy Walls was runner-up last year and ascended to winner this year.
Trigg County’s Gavin Kline was the Fan Fave runner-up, becoming the third Wildcat wrestler to finish in the top two.
GIRLS WRESTLING – Trigg County’s Makenna Hendricks was the 2021 Fan Fave winner in a wrestling category that combined boys and girls. She was runner-up in 2022 and became the first girls’ winner in 2024.
Caldwell County’s T.J. Goodwin was the runner-up, joining Cofy Walls, Collin Teutsch, Dylan Walls, and Dylan Gray as Tiger Fan Fave runners-up.
BOYS ARCHERY – In 2024, the archery category was split into genders for the first time. Trigg County’s Trevor Hoy won the Fan Fave voting. He was runner-up last year.
Caleb Luttrull was the runner-up, becoming the first Christian County Colonel archer to finish in the top two in the voting.
GIRLS ARCHERY – In her first year on a Fan Fave ballot, Trigg County’s Kerra Johnson took home first place in the voting. It gave Trigg County a sweep in the archery categories with Trevor Hoy (boys).
Kate Smith was the runner-up, marking the fourth straight year a Heritage Christian Academy archer has finished in the top two of the Fan Fave voting.
SWIMMING – Grace Cansler is the only athlete to finish in the top two in two different sports. She won the swimming category and was second in girls’ soccer.
Cansler continues Hopkinsville’s streak of seven straight Fan Fave wins.
Her teammate Livie Jorgensen finished as runner-up, marking her first trip into the top two.
BOWLING – Christian County’s Aiden Lewis won the category for the second straight year. Heritage Christian Academy’s Alayna Windle, who was unable to attend Wednesday’s reception because she is bowling in a national competition, finished second.
CHEERLEADING – Christian County won the Fan Fave voting for the first time in the five-year history of the category. They were runner-up three previous years.
Trigg County, who has finished in the top two four of the past five years, was second in the voting.
BASEBALL – Hopkinsville’s J.J. Thompson is the second Tiger to win the Fan Fave voting, joining Layne Jorgensen (2020).
Cole Slone was the Fan Fave runner-up, becoming the third Caldwell County player to finish in the top two (Ari Wells – 2023, Tate VanHooser – 2021).
SOFTBALL – Trigg County’s Kady Fuller is also a first-time ballot winner, becoming the third Lady Wildcat to finish in the top two in the Fan Fave voting.
A Christian County Lady Colonel has finished in the top two of the softball Fan Fave voting every year of the seven-year history of the awards. Avery Adcock continued that streak in 2024, finishing in second place.
BOYS TRACK AND FIELD – Christopher McCarley is the third straight Christian County Colonel to win the Fan Fave voting, joining Trey Blanton in 2023 and Jaiden Northington in 2022.
Hopkinsville state champion Ian Rosario was the runner-up in voting and the fourth Tiger to finish in the top two of the voting.
GIRLS TRACK AND FIELD – Caldwell County’s Avery Wells won back-to-back Fan Fave voting, becoming the first girls’ track and field athlete to do so.
Christian County’s Kaidence Atwell was the runner-up.
TENNIS – For the first six years of the voting, tennis was split by gender. In 2024, it was a combined category.
Lyon County’s Anna Crawford won the voting this year after winning in 2023.
Hopkinsville’s Madison Allen was the runner-up, continuing the Lady Tigers tennis dominance with an eighth appearance in the top two.
FISHING – Trigg County’s Avery Ethridge is the first three-time winner in the fishing category and the second Trigg athlete to claim a three-peat (Colin Stevens – 2018-20)
Avery’s teammate Landi Rogers was the Fan Fave runner-up.
