Trigg Schools To Have Free Meals In 2024-25 Academic Year

Officials with Trigg County Schools announced Monday that the district will again be participating in the School Breakfast and National School Lunch Program.

As part of this plan, TCS every school day will offer healthy meals at no cost to the students, due to the implementation of the Community Eligibility Provision for the 2024-25 academic year. Because of this, students will be able to take part in these meals without having to pay a fee, nor submit a household application.

The Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) is a non-pricing meal service option for schools and school districts in low-income areas, and it allows the nation’s highest poverty schools and districts to follow these guidelines.

Districts that adopt CEP are reimbursed using a formula based on the percentage of students categorically eligible for free meals based on their participation in other specific means-tested programs, such as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF).
