Officials have not released the name of a person who died when hit by a vehicle on the Breathitt Pennyrile Parkway Monday afternoon.
The Hopkins County Sheriff’s Department and other emergency officials responded to the accident scene Monday shortly after 3:40 after they received a 9-1-1 call stating that a man was hit by a passing vehicle. The accident occurred near the 29-mile marker just north of the Christian-Hopkins County line in northbound lanes.
Emergency crews remained on the scene investigating the crash for several hours. The northbound lanes of the parkway were closed until after 7:30 Monday night. During the closure, traffic was rerouted through the Crofton area.
