The fire department announced Friday they were given two grants for equipment for fighting fires and a new truck.
Pembroke Fire Department Chief Nick Belair says the first grant will give them 18 new air packs and rapid intervention team packs that will replace the 17-year-old air packs they have been currently using and ensure each apparatus is fully operational with air packs.
The second grant will provide them with a light rescue truck that will be equipped with a light tower and mobile cascade system. Belair says the truck will give them the capability to fill self-contained breathing apparatus on the scene of structure fires not only for Pembroke but for any department within the county.
