Hopkinsville is preparing for medical cannabis in 2025. Tuesday night, the Hopkinsville City Council heard the recommended zoning restrictions from the Planning and Zoning Board. Community and Development Services Director, Tom Britton says the zoning regulations are more than likely necessary given that several counties in the area have opted out.

click to download audioThe recommendation also includes zoning for Cannabis Cultivators, Processors, Producers, and Safety Compliance Facilities, which would all be approved for the Industrial 2 zone.
Martin moved to forward the zoning amendments to the city clerk to draft into an ordinance, but with the removal of the 40-foot sit back from residential areas. The motion passed on a 9-2 vote.
