John Hopson, 93, of Ft. Walton Beach

John Louis Hopson, 93, of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on September 22, 2024. Private burial has taken place in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery-West. The family will have a private Celebration of Life Service at a later date. The family has entrusted Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home with handling the services of their beloved father.

John was born in Madisonville, KY, on May 4, 1931, the son of the late Mabel and Joshua Hopson. John grew up in Cadiz, KY, where he was known for his practical jokes and humorous adventures. He attended Columbia Military Academy and served in the US Army. He attended the University of Kentucky for pre-pharmacy and graduated from the University of South Carolina with a degree in pharmacy. John was the owner of and pharmacist at Thrif-T Drugs in Hopkinsville and Cadiz. He was a member of First Baptist Church, in Hopkinsville, where he sang in the choir and served as a deacon. He enjoyed boating and water skiing, as well as snow skiing. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Peggy Ann Scott Hopson.

Survivors include his daughters, Ellen (Jim) Crowson, and Kay (James) Bond; grandchildren, John (Caitlin) Bond, Lauren (Tommy) Goering, Holly (Alex) Sellars, Conner (Jami) Bond; and 3 great-grandchildren, Sellars Bond, Bond, and Lainey Sellars.
