Robert Lee Lewis, 79, Hopkinsville, passed away on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, in Christian County.
Robert, the son of the late Robert E. and Gladys Lewis, was born on June 25, 1945, in Christian County.
Robert, at an early age, joined Allen Grove Baptist Church and later joined First Street Baptist Church. He was employed with Phelps Dodge for 30 years and owned his lawn care service – Lewis Lawn Service. He was a graduate of the Class of 1964 of Attucks High School and a Vietnam Veteran.
He loved to work, do lawn service, and be around people. He was the oldest member and founder of 270 Vet SETT Club.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sibling, Billi Gipson; daughter, Vonetta Lewis; and Godchild, Verna Coleman.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Brenda P.Poole-Lewis; children, Venessa Lewis, Robin Lewis, Whitley Haskins, and Lawson Terrell Ramsey; sister, Norma Lewis Walker; godchildren, Adam Burrus, Shantina Matlock, William Burrus, Dorothy Moss, and Adria Moss; 15 grandchildren; 20 god-grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; devoted nieces and nephews, Carlos Wilson, Craig Leavell, Corey Wilson, Caresa Thompson, and Candra Poole West.
Gamble Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Services will be on Thursday, October 10, 2024, at 11:30 at the First Street Baptist Church.
Burial will follow in the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West.
Visitation will begin Thursday morning at 10:00 at the church.
