Grand Jury Returns Several Indictments on Wanton Endangerment Charges

indictment-5

A Clarksville man, arrested after a police chase in Oak Grove in September, was among several individuals indicted on wanton endangerment charges by the Christian County Grand Jury on Friday.

A true bill was returned on Brandon Burney, from Clarksville, Tennessee, on multiple charges, including fleeing and evading police, and two counts of wanton endangerment of a police officer, along with several other violations.

The charges stem from September 6, when Kentucky State Police said Burney failed to stop at a checkpoint on KY 115 and fled. Police said the chase proceeded down Azalea Drive and returned to the checkpoint, where spike strikes deflated the SUV’s tires. Police said the pursuit ended near the state line after troopers used a precision immobilization technique causing the SUV to run off the road. Police said Burney then attempted to run but was quickly taken into custody.

The grand jury indicted Lucas Roldolfo Noriega, from Pleasant View, Tennessee, on two counts of wanton endangerment related to a road rage incident in Oak Grove on August 7. Noriega is accused of pointing a gun at another driver multiple times on Interstate 24. Police said he was arrested at a gas station shortly after the incident.

A true bill was returned on Demarcus Fletcher, of Hopkinsville, on charges of wanton endangerment, criminal mischief, and retaliating against a witness in a legal process. The charges are in connection to an incident on August 14.

Donald Ray Brown, of Oak Grove, was indicted on charges of wanton endangerment, theft by unlawful taking – firearm, and tampering with physical evidence from an incident on September 8.

Geovantae Poindexter, of Hopkinsville, was indicted on charges of robbery and assault.

The charges stem from an altercation on West Cherry Street on August 22. Christian County Sheriff’s deputies reported that Poindexter tased, assaulted, and bit his girlfriend before he took her phone and fled the area. Police said he was later found on Heather Place and taken into custody.
