A former County Judge-Executive, a community volunteer, and others that a making a difference in Human Rights were honored during the Human Relations of Hopkinsville-Christian County’s annual breakfast Thursday.
Hal and Betty Thurmond’s son David presented the award named in his parent’s honor for their work on Human Relations in Christian to Francene Gilmer.

Featured speaker for the Unity Breakfast was Hopkinsville native Raymond Burse. He congratulated the Human Relations Commission on their 50th anniversary, but said there is still much work to do on the local, state, and national levels.

A large crowd was on hand for the annual breakfast that was held at the Bruce Convention Center. Special music was provided by Daryl Anderson with the unity proclamation presented Hopkinsville Mayor J. R. Knight, Oak Grove Mayor Jackie Oliver, and Christian County Judge Executive Jerry Gilliam.
