Gerald “Jerry” Duane Stegall, 91, of Midland, MI, formerly of Hopkinsville, KY, passed away on Monday, September 9, 2024.
Graveside services will be 12:00 p.m. Saturday, November 2, 2024, at Riverside Cemetery in Hopkinsville, KY. Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
A native of Payette, ID he was born November 12, 1932, the son of the late Oliver Nelson Stegall and Utana Joyce Taylor Stegall. He attended the University of Idaho, Moscow. He met and married Juanita while stationed at Ft. Campbell, KY with the 101st Airborne. He and Juanita moved back to Idaho and then to Nevada before they and their children returned to his wife’s birthplace, Hopkinsville, KY. He had a career in radio, and while in Kentucky, worked at the WHOP radio station. There, he is most remembered for pairing with Dink Embry on the Early Bird Morning Show, though his primary position was in sales and advertising.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Juanita White Stegall. He will be interred next to his wife in Riverside Cemetery.
He is survived by his children: Teresa (Ken) Stegall-Faulk, Larry (Kim) Stegall, Sherry Collins, Paula (Adam) Stegall-Smith, and Al Collins; his five grandchildren: Albert Collins III, Ashley Huston, Paul Stegall, Shawn Stegall, and Sophie Busbee; and eight great-grandchildren.
