First District Congressman James Comer easily won a fifth term in the U. S. House of Representatives Tuesday by defeating challenger Democrat Erin Marshall.
Comer won the race by taking 75 percent of the vote garnering 252,534 votes compared to 85,493 votes for Erin Marshall. Comer's largest win was in his home county of Monroe where he received 91 percent of the vote. Erin Marshall ran strongest in her home county of Franklin where Comer outdistanced her with 54 percent of the vote.
Comer, who chairs the House Oversight Committee, was first elected to Congress in 2016 to fill the remainder of former Congressman Ed Whitfield's term. Comer will begin serving his fifth term when he is sworn into office in January.
