Officials with the Cadiz City Council briefly met on Election Day, approving the purchase of two specific vehicles for municipalities.

The first: another car for the Cadiz Police Department. Chief Tyler Thomas said ABC funds will be used for the purchase, approximated at $50,000.

The second: a service truck for Cadiz Public Works.

According to Mayor Todd King and Public Works Director Craig Oakley, the City of Cadiz received a bid of $66,991 from Wildcat Chevrolet. The state contract price, however, is $56,887. As such, council members moved for the truck’s purchase to come through the state.

In other council news:

— In his October report, Thomas said more than 500 calls for service were answered, including: 28 cases investigated, 45 traffic stops made, 14 alarm calls responded to, 12 people arrested, and four collisions observed with two involving injury.

— King said Gail Cannon, and friends, have done an “excellent job” painting the mural along the wall near the low retaining wall at the Renaissance Stage. King also noted councilwoman Susie Hendricks, who received the most votes on city council this November, is “doing well” after knee surgery, and returned home this week.
