Funeral Services for 82-year-old Donald E. Burton, of Cadiz, be noon Monday, December 9, at Cappetta’s West Suburban Funeral Home in Westmont, Illinois.
A local visitation will be held beginning at 10 AM Wednesday, December 4, in Goodwin Funeral Home.
Survivors include:
A son, Douglas Burton (Dayna Hill), of Cadiz;
A daughter, Ann MacArtney (Doug), of Melrose Park, Illinois;
Eight grandchildren, Ashley Risa (Brian), Brian MacArtney (Sara), Abigail Nelson (Nick), Lillian Burton, Dale Burton, Joseph Burton, Alex Hill, and Ella Rae Hill
10 great-grandchildren;
A sister-in-law, Virginia Burton, of Johnston City, Illinois;
And a brother-in-law, Jerome Flyte, of Clarendon Hills, Illinois.
He died Monday, November 25, 2024, at Alive Hospice in Nashville, Tennessee.
He was born November 19, 1942, in West Frankfort, Illinois, to the late Ewel and Jean Bean Burton.
A proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, Donald served his country with honor before pursuing a career in security, where he became a respected security guard trainer.
An avid outdoorsman, Donald was passionate for deer hunting, fishing, and skeet shooting, and was known for his extensive gun collection. He also enjoyed billiards and in his youth, was a talented roller skater. Later in life, Donald discovered a love for pontoon boating on Lake Barkley, where he spent many tranquil hours on the water after moving there a few years ago.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Bette Ann Flyte Burton.
