TVA Hears Concerns Over Proposed Todd- Logan Project

tva-event-1

The Tennessee Valley Authority was in Elkton Thursday to begin collecting comments on a proposed project they say would increase the electric capacity for Todd and Logan County.

Manager of Transmission Sites Shane Beasley told Your News Edge that while there are no concerns about exceeding their current capacity, they are looking toward the future.

Beasley added that in those contingency situations, TVA must have operational flexibility and redundancy to serve load reliably. The project involves a lot of planning to get off the ground after public comments are received.

TVA officials are proposing building a switching station from 19.5 to 22.5 miles of single-circuit transmission line. The new line would begin at the new switching station, which would be located off Old Trenton Road, and extend east to the Cave Springs Switching Station. The new line would be built using primarily single- and double-pole (H-frame) steel structures centered on a new 100-foot-wide right of way.

Several residents who are expected to be impacted were on hand Thursday at the Milliken Memorial Community House in Elkton to share their thoughts and concerns on the project. Beasley shared that each person who shared feedback has unique concerns.

Beasley added that the TVA remains committed to keeping an open dialogue throughout the project.

If you missed the in-person event, comments are being accepted through January 6, 2025. They can be submitted by contacting TVA’s Nathan Murrell at 800-362-4355, by email at newtransline@tva.gov, or by mail to: Nathan Murrell, Tennessee Valley Authority, 1101 Market Street, MR 4G, Chattanooga, TN, 37402-2801.
