Mary Gladis, age 84, of Cadiz, KY, passed away Thursday, December 5, 2024, at Jennie Stuart Medical Center in Hopkinsville, KY.
She was born on June 15, 1940, in Indianapolis, IN, to the late Ardis and Cecilia Weber Melloh.
A graduate of St. Vincent School of Nursing in Indianapolis, Mary devoted 30 years of her life as a registered nurse, working at nursing facilities in Ohio and at Shady Lawn in Cadiz.
Mary was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church and an avid reader. A loving mother to her children, her dedication to her late son Michael was profound, as she was deeply involved in his participation in the Special Olympics, fostering inclusion and encouragement for him and his friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Don Gladis; her son, Michael Gladis; and her brother, Ardis Melloh.
She is survived by her son, Joe Gladis of Cadiz; her daughters, Jean Gladis (Kurt Bergen) of Batavia, OH and Elizabeth Gerdes of Maineville, OH; and her grandchildren, Bobby Gerdes, Jenny Gerdes, and Amy Gerdes.
Funeral mass will be at St. Henry Catholic Church, 16097 US-68, Hardin, KY (Aurora), at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, December 10, 2024, with Father Gregory Trawick officiating. Interment will follow in St. Henry Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church from 9:00 AM until the service time of 11:00 AM.
